FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS.

Paul’s Organics has produced and distributed fine Organic food for over 40 years. We specialise in Vegan Soy based products such as tofu, tempeh & seitan and bake a huge range of Organic, Specialty and ‘Free From’ bread on a daily basis. We also wholesale Organic fruit and vegetables direct to retailers and consumers alike

The business started with one man’s passion for tofu (in fact, we were the UK’s first ever tofu manufacturer) and later grew into a diverse producer of delicious organic goodies. The Paul’s Organics journey began in the 70’s. In those days, a ponytailed Paul pedalled around London selling tofu from the back of his pushbike.

A man with a plan, Paul won an early ‘Dragon’s Den’ style business competition and the move to Melton Mowbray – the Rural Capital of Food – beckoned. Nowadays, Paul has swapped the pushbike for environmentally friendly, hybrid lorries to deliver near and far. We have perfected over 25 different loaves of bread and vegan pastries. Although our tofu recipe (and Paul’s ponytail) remain the same

WHAT WE DO.

To this day we are a family owned and operated business, specialising in producing a range of Organic soybean based foods including Tofu, Tempeh and Seitan, as well as a selection of Vegan products including our must-try burger patties. We also have a dedicated Organic bakery where we have perfected over 25 types of bread including sourdoughs, yeasted bread, wheat-free bread, rolls and of course our delicious pies. 

We have worked with many of our ingredient suppliers and local growers for over 30 years, choosing to partner with only a handful of local producers who share our high standards for premium quality, artisanal and organic produce. Suppling retailers, cafes, markets, food processors (to name a few) with our in -house produce and wholesaler fruit and Vegetables up and down the country.

HOW WE DO IT.

Paul has been making bread for over 60 years, and began making tofu after learning a traditional Japanese recipe and method in the 1970’s making Paul’s the first tofu manufacturer in the UK. Although our production equipment has since been replaced by modern industrial equipment (with help from the Rural Payment Agency), Paul’s recipes and passion for creating great, nutritious food remain the same. 

We strive to stay on the front foot with sustainability top of mind when it comes to how we produce, import and export our food. While we maintain the same traditional recipes and artisanal product our customers love us for, we keep up to date with leading modern technology to ensure utmost efficiency. We only produce what we need to fulfil orders, so all food you buy from us is freshly made right here in Melton Mowbray. This is why we can offer you all of our bread to be made salt-free on request. When you buy food from Paul’s you’re supporting local business and the environment.

ACCREDITATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS.

Certified Vegan

The Vegan Trademark is the authentic international vegan
standard and is managed by The Vegan Society; the charity that
created the word 'vegan' back in 1944.  

Certified Organic

The Soil Association developed the world’s first organic standards
in the 1960s. Our licensees must meet strict European laws about
the production of organic food.  

SALSA Approved

SALSA approval is only granted to suppliers who are able to demonstrate 
that they are able to produce and supply safe and legal
food and are committed to continually meeting the
requirements of the SALSA standard.  

EU Commission Certified Organic

The organic logo can only be used on products that have been certified
as organic by an authorised control agency or body. This means that
they have fulfilled strict conditions on how they must be produced,
processed, transported and stored.
